None of us want to think about getting old but it is worth making sure that we have enough money to enjoy it when we get there!
The full amount of new State Pension is currently £168.60 a week – just under £8,800 a year. It is now very straightforward to check your forecast online and see the date when you reach state pension age. The forecast also identifies how many years you need to contribute to reach the full amount – this is particularly useful if you are planning to retire early.
You can also check your National Insurance record, and whether you can improve it. You might be able to fill any gaps by claiming National Insurance credits, or making voluntary National Insurance contributions.
